Restoring a vintage or heavily worn sofa is a meticulous trade that balances traditional joinery with modern cushioning technology. At Haider Foam in Sector 14, Gurugram, we adhere to a disciplined, multi-stage restoration methodology.
Step 1: Frame Teardown & Assessment
Restoration begins by carefully stripping back the bottom dust cover and removing worn fabric and degraded foam. This exposes the bare timber frame, allowing our carpenters to inspect corner blocks, joints, and cross-rails for hidden stress fractures.
Step 2: Structural Carpentry Reinforcement
Loose joints are re-glued with industrial wood adhesive, clamped, and reinforced with solid timber gussets. Wobbly screw mounts for sofa legs are re-threaded or fitted with heavy-gauge T-nuts.
Step 3: Webbing & Spring Overhaul
Old burlap webbing that has lost its elasticity is replaced with high-tension nylon webbing woven in a tight interlocking grid. Sinuous springs are re-anchored to the frame with sound-dampening lined clips to eliminate squeaking.
Step 4: Cushion Sculpting & Upholstery
New high-density foam blocks are precision cut, wrapped in protective dacron fiber, and fitted inside newly tailored fabric or leather covers sewn with heavy-duty bonded nylon thread.
